FAQ
-
If you have a therapist, LBMACP will contact the therapist of your choice and arrange payment. Your therapist will notify you of approval and schedule your appointments. After payment is arranged between LBMACP, the agreement is between you and your therapist.
If you do not have a therapist, we will match you with a therapist based on the info you provided in your application. We'll contact the therapist and arrange payment, and the therapist will reach out to introduce him/herself and schedule an appointment.
-
If your therapist charges you for session you miss (because you forgot to cancel or to attend), you will be responsible for paying for that session. The LBMACP only pays for attended sessions.
-
We encourage clients to reapply, however, first time applicants will be prioritized. We will approve second round applicants if funds are available. Keep in mind that if you are approved to use this fund for a second time, we may ask that you increase your copay.
Also, if you attend for 3 months and then want to reengage after missing 4 months, you will need to reapply (you have missed your 6 month window).
-
No, we do not cover payments for therapists who work for state funded agencies such as Yellowstone Behavioral Health, since they already offer a sliding scale.
-
If you decide to switch therapists you will have to reapply.
-
Often therapists use a sliding scale for people who do not have insurance. If you have insurance and you are using these funds to help meet your deductible, please know that the maximum amount the fund will pay per session is $100. If your therapists rate without the sliding scale is $170, we will pay up to $100 of your fee until you meet your deductible or for 10 sessions, whichever comes first.

You must live in the Big Horn Basin—Park County, Big Horn County, or Washakie County.

As an uninsured musician, Luke Bell understood the challenges of paying for therapy, and rumor has it he once offered to restring and tune his therapist's guitar in exchange for her expertise. His music speaks to his interest in "state of mind" and his awareness of the importance of mental health. Read more about Luke here.
Funding for this program is made available through royalties from Luke's music, grants, and private donations. Because Luke's royalties more than cover our minimal administrative costs, your contributions go directly to supporting Big Horn Basin residents seeking financial aid to access therapy.
Thank you for acknowledging the importance of mental wellness by supporting the Luke Bell Memorial Affordable Counseling Program.
